Book of the Month
This month your teacher might read you a poem from the amazing Revolting Rhymes. This is Roald Dahls take on classic tales. If you have one you really like, let us know about it!
Book of the Month
Mr Gum and the Secret Hideout
Book Review: Fantastic Frankie and the Brain-Drain Machine by Anna Kemp
Fantastic Frankie and the Brain-Drain Machine is all about Frankie's adventures with his crazy French nanny. He's always bringing back Fs for failure from school, so his Dad finds out about a boarding school called Crammer Grammar and sends him there to learn properly. He makes friends with a kind girl called Neet and a clever boy called Wesley and together they work out that the headmaster, Dr Gore (so they think he's called) is planning to turn them all into super brains using his brain-drain machine. So, Frankie and his friends make a plan with help from Alphonsine (Frankie's nanny) to stop Dr Gore from succeeding with his evil ideas!
I don't want to give away the ending of the book, but it's very funny because you learn about Dr Gore's secret and Frankie's parents end up somewhere they didn't want to go.
This book would be good for anyone from six to 12 years old. It's well written, very funny and exciting and I would recommend it to boys and girls.
